Description
Duely is building a freelance payment platform that separates getting paid from waiting for client approval. It combines funded agreements, AI-assisted work verification, and early financing on XRPL EVM.
The problem
Freelancers often complete work before clients finish reviewing it or processing payment. That gap leaves freelancers covering expenses while waiting for earnings. Clients, meanwhile, need time to confirm that deliverables meet their requirements. Duely is designed to serve both needs: earlier access to payment for freelancers and continued review rights for clients.
Who it serves
Duely serves clients and freelancers who have already agreed to work together. It is a payment and financing tool, not a marketplace for finding jobs. The initial verification focus is technical deliverables, where requirements can be tied to specific evidence.
How it works
-
Agree and fund. Both parties confirm the deliverables, acceptance criteria, payment amount, deadline, and fees. The client deposits the agreed invoice amount into escrow before work begins.
-
Supply financing. Liquidity providers contribute to a separate lending vault. Their capital funds early payments; client escrow is not used to finance advances. Vault shares track participation, with rules for withdrawals, repayment, fees, and losses.
-
Submit and verify. The freelancer submits completed work and supporting evidence. AI assesses the submission against the original agreement. For code deliverables, the verification workflow is designed to combine repository or archive checks, commit identification, isolated test execution, Gemini-assisted review, and deterministic scoring. Evidence and rationale support each assessment; uncertain cases require human review.
-
Receive payment early. Eligible freelancers can request an early payment from the vault before client acceptance. Advance terms depend on the agreed policy, evaluation, risk limits, and available liquidity. An authorized backend submits the transaction, while smart contracts enforce payment permissions and accounting rules. AI does not hold private keys.
-
Approve and settle. Client approval releases escrow to repay the vault and distribute the agreed fees. Fees are disclosed upfront and deducted from the freelancer's total proceeds under the agreed terms. A 90% advance does not mean a 10% fee.
-
Resolve disagreements. A rejection pauses ordinary settlement for review against the original requirements. A rejection alone does not establish that the work failed. The process is designed to support evidence, responses, appeals, and human resolution. If an incorrect AI approval or fraud results in an unrecoverable advance, participating LPs bear the loss under the vault's rules.
Benefits for each participant
Freelancers gain earlier access to earnings without waiting for the entire client review process.
Clients receive an evidence-based review against their own requirements while retaining final acceptance and dispute rights. Earlier freelancer payment does not require earlier release of client escrow.
Liquidity providers gain access to financing opportunities and a share of agreed fees in exchange for taking advance risk. Returns depend on successful repayment and are not guaranteed.
Supporting capabilities
The planned system includes x402 pay-per-use payments for AI scoring services, evaluation budgets, evidence trails, risk-based advance policies, exposure limits, and vault utilization tracking. These controls support transparent decisions and management of financing risk.
What makes Duely different
Duely connects the agreement, work evidence, financing decision, and final settlement in one workflow. Its central design principle is to separate client escrow from financing capital, make payment decisions traceable, and explicitly assign the risk of paying before final acceptance.
Scope and future expansion
The initial workflow centers on one completed project submission and one deadline. Future expansion includes independently financed milestones, integrations with existing invoicing tools, and embedded wallets that simplify onboarding. Supported payment partners could provide fiat funding and payouts, making Duely accessible to freelancers and clients who do not already use crypto.
Technical Details
Architecture: Next.js/TypeScript dashboards, Supabase data and evidence storage, Gemini-assisted verification, and Solidity escrow and lending-vault contracts on XRPL EVM. The design separates client escrow from LP financing capital.
Verification combines repository/commit checks, isolated tests, AI evidence assessment, and deterministic scoring, with human review for uncertain cases. x402 supports pay-per-use scoring.
An authorized backend submits advance transactions; contracts enforce roles, liquidity limits, invoice state, and duplicate-payment protection. AI holds no keys. Client approval repays the vault and distributes remaining proceeds and agreed fees. Disputes pause settlement for review; participating LPs bear unrecovered advance losses under pool rules.
The central design challenge is allocating AI approval risk without using client escrow to fund advances.
Stack: MetaMask, viem, Foundry, OpenZeppelin, and compatible EVM RPC.
